PODCAST: Hearing about the work of EmbraceFARM and the sad story behind its existence.

The farming sector has the highest fatality rate in Ireland. Yet there’s little or no emotional or practical support networks available to farm families suffering loss.

According to the Health and Safety Authority of Ireland, half of workplace deaths are in farming. Fatality rates for the young and old highest where 20 per cent are children and farmers over 65 are nearly half.

Norma Rohan, co-founder of EmbraceFARM (Farm Accidents Remembered and Missed) shares her family’s story and how they came to start a support network for those affected by farm accidents. She is pictured above with her dairy farmer husband, Brian. His father’s unexpected death in a tragic accident started them on the journey to create the charity to help other farming families going through similar experiences.
