PODCAST: Tragically death was a familiar visitor to Dublin’s impoverished tenement-dwelling families.

Learning about life & death in Dublin’s shocking tenements. Guest Terry Fagan tells the story of his incredible Inner City Folklore Project.

He also generously shares – from his archive – a first-hand recorded account describing how death came to so many young tenement children.

Terry is pictured here holding a donated ‘death set’ kit which is over a century old. In tenement life, this kit was used by special women who would keep it safe and bring it along to wash and prepare the dead of the community.
